LIVING LI(V)ES

How do young people really live their lives? Do the faces they present to the outside world reflect the complexity of what is happening inside them? Living Li(v)es is a series of one act play scripts about how teens' lives are really lived, told through their own eyes. They are suited for intermediate and senior divisions, in a classroom or after school setting. Each script includes a Teacher's Guide, to help focus on the play-building process in a variety of ways. Each includes minimal production values, to keep the issues "front and centre".

READING THE SIGNS

"Reading the Signs", by Richard Turtle, examines how literacy is a factor in the success of young people. This funny, fast-paced play gives us a look at the lives of young people, through their own eyes. The play is actually five plays which can either stand each on its own, or be joined into a fully-rounded one act theatre experience. Flexible casting. Complement the play with "Reading the Play", by Peter Moore, a series of drama exercices which illuminate the themes.

THE MONSTER RESPONSIBLE

Written by Richard Turtle, edited by Ron Dodson
This is the compelling story of a teenager's disappearance, the resulting impact on the individuals around her and the community as a whole. This collection of 10-minute plays and accompanying exercises (called Creating the Monster, by Peter Moore) contains a broad range of characters which explore the roles of the media and the police in our "private" lives, as well as issues such as depression, suicide, mob mentality and justice. Flexible casting, minimal staging. Workshops to enhance the play-building experience are available. Please contact us.

MY NAME IS DAVE

Adapted by Peter Moore, edited by Ron Dodson; inspired by the novel "My Name is Davy. I'm An Alcoholic", by Anne Snyder.

This play explores a variety of problems confronting teens and emphasizes substance abuse, self-esteem, peer pressure, values, physical abuse and identity. The accompanying Teachers Guide helps teachers and their students explore these issues in depth in the classroom and in performance. Flexible casting.
