NEW RESOURCE

ARTS AT THE HEART

"Arts at the Heart" helps elementary teachers understand and implement the Ontario dance and dance curricula. It focuses on the Creative and Critical Analysis Processes, assessment and evaluation, the role of performance and other issues, with special emphasis on dance. With a Foreword by world-renowned master educator Dorothy Heathcote, and two major integrated units, this resource should be used by every elementary teacher and principals. Workshops are also available to help implement the curriculum.

READING THE SIGNS

"Reading the Signs", by Richard Turtle, examines how literacy is a factor in the success of young people. This funny, fast-paced play gives us a look at the lives of young people, through their own eyes. The play is actually five plays which can either stand each on its own, or be joined into a fully-rounded one act theatre experience. Flexible casting. Complement the play with "Reading the Play", by Peter Moore, a series of drama exercices which illuminate the themes.

CUSTOM DRAMA MUSIC

A CD with 32 tracks of themed music, plus three Bonus Tracks themed to the popular book "Two Islands", by Ivan Gantschev. Each MP3 track is brief (most are two minutes), loopable, powerful and very musical. Great for drama and dance work with all ages!

You can also order your own custom tracks. Just tell us what you need: theme, mood, length, particular instrumentation or any other detail, and we'll do the rest. Just think of the possibilities.

THE EFFORTLESS ASSEMBLY

Written by Peter Mansell, "The Effortless Assembly" outlines ways of making school assemblies a pleasurable experience and an artistic opportunity for the organizers, by examining three "keys": planning, integrating, and using theatre skills. With 66 pages of practical knowledge, including tips for administrators and LOTS of suggestions for teachers, it uses Remembrance Day as its primary example. An important addition to every school's reading materials! In a handy, 6 inch x 9 inch, saddle stitched format.
